The Gilbertson family comes every July to stay in cabin 1. Each year Mary Gilbertson brings a art project that the whole family participate in. The mobile made of bits and pieces of the northwoods still hangs in the cabin. This years project was a birch candle. Using pieces of birch trees they made molds with rubber and when that set, cut the mold out and filled it with beeswax. Once the beeswax set they painted and finished the outside to look like a birch log. Each candle is unique as it is formed around a different piece of birch.
