After receiving an emergency 911 call from Hungry Jack Lodge at 1:22 PM on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, Cook County Law Enforcement issued a page to the Gunflint Trail Fire Department and Gunflint Trail Ambulance. The Gunflint Fire Department responded and found that the fire was in the Lodge’s main building. Firefighters battled both the fire and the cold weather, but by 5:25 PM the historic main building, which housed the office, restaurant, and bar, was reported to be a total loss.
