Hand Made Septic Tank

While digging to install the new septic tank, we ran into one of the original handmade septic tanks on the property. This one was made of the stone found on Clearwater Lake and mortared together. The top was made of cement poured onto chicken wire. Unused for at least 50 years, the tank was in pretty good shape before it was broken open with the digging.

My father use to make tanks like this only he used block instead and the one that I helped him build when I was 13yrs old is still working and the water that comes from the discharge is probibly better then most well water.

As long as it stays sealed it will never let you down. This tank is now going on 52 years old.
